The search for missing Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi in Los Angeles took a heartbreaking turn on Sunday when her father, Ryan Kobayashi, was found dead near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)—one of the last places she was seen before her mysterious disappearance.

Hannah Kobayashi, 31, missed a connecting flight from Maui to New York City on November 8 at LAX. Surveillance footage later showed her in various locations around Los Angeles, but she was last heard from on November 11. Since then, her family has endured deep anguish, which was made even more unbearable with the tragic death of her father.

Ryan Kobayashi, 58, was found in a parking lot near LAX around 4 a.m. on November 24. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed his death, and the family later revealed on Facebook that he died by suicide.
